The answer is 65,534.

256 * 256 = 65,636

Because respectively logical subnet would actually open with .1 (.0 is a null address) you subtract two possible IP spaces.
none

255.255.0.0 is not in fact connected...its the default "false id" a laptop gives to its adapter if it finds a nouns but cannot find an ip from what it is connected to.....I'm willing to bet your ip address is also a false nouns and that it does not show a network ip.

the correct settings (if connected to a router) should be something similar to

192.168.100.3 (pc's ip)

255.255.255.0 (subnet)

192.168.100.1 (gateway)
256x256=65536

You have to fix your subnet largest adress, for example 1.1.0.0 and after you can increase the other adresses as below :

1.1.1.0

1.1.1.1

1.1.1.2

...

1.1.2.0.

..

Until

1.1.255.255 (Finaly)
