information is stored on a compact disc buy writing groves or marks on the reflective surface its newly ones and zeros. the laser pass over a spot on the CD if its a grove it looks dusk that's like a not anything if it reflects its a one. adjectives digital data is stored that way(Binary) within ones and zeros. compact disc burners work two ways as far as i know CDr's use a pigment that only can be written on once cdr w's can be erased and rewritten because the laser cuts a grove within the reflective part and can also smooth the grove out to erase.
