How do you knwo wat number pin memory to win for your computer?

Mom is getting a foreign computer so i figured i would help yourself to her old one and put in a new Drive that can burn CDs, get hold of a new nouns card and driver, and some more RAM. How do you know wat PIN number you need? (184 Pin, 168 pin, 240 Pin, Etc)

regular memory is 168 pin. It's slower and have two cuts on the bottom. if its an older computer its probably that one. 184 is DDR memory. it's newer and have one cut on the bottom. 240 is DDR 2. it also has one cut but it's shifted over more. You can transmit what kind you hold by looking at the sticker on the memory. If it says a number, (256mb) for example near a pc133 or pc100 after it, its 168 pin. DDR should say DDR on it or read out a much higer number like 256mb notebook 2100.
Log on to Crucial.com and they will scan your computer and tell you what memory you entail and if there is room for it to be added. Crucial is a memory capitalist and offers this service within hopes of getting your business but once you have adjectives the specs, you can shop price. I find that unless there is a public sale, the best buys are on the internet. Good Luck!
