I hold a USB drive that I want to keep duplicate drive letter right very soon it gets a modern letter depending on the number of other drives I own hooked up.
How do you metamorphosis the drive note of a USB sturdy drive surrounded by XP?
Right-Click My Computer, select MANAGE, select DISK MANAGEMENT (Under STORAGE). Find your USB HDD (in the right-hand pane), right-click it and select CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND PATHS. That's all in attendance is to it.
Cant it stays the same the system choses some how
no you cant engender a fixed drive of a portable device unless you dont remove it
All you would have to do is map the drive. right click on my computer, step to map drives, and then assign it a notification.
This is possible. If you go to Control Panels > Administrative Tools > Computer Management. Then from the tree on the gone, choose Storage > Disk Management.
If you then right-click on the drive you longing to change and select Change Drive Letter... later you can assign a different letter.
Be aware that you cannot assign to a dispatch that is already taken (for plain reasons).
Good luck.
The other answering parties supply various pious answers.
HOWEVER, you should be aware that IF you disconnect the drive, the settings will be lost; AND windows OS will assign a NEW address which may or may not be like the NEXT time you hook the drive up to the system!
This is one of the problems with removable drives and OS's that automatically scan and supply drive ID's.
